Chaos

I have been cleaning my house for the past week and progress has been ZILCH! Yeah, the toilet's diryt AGAIN. The floor is dusty AGAIN! So it's gonna be a mad scramble for me to clean up in the next couple of days. And my itineary isn't out yet. So I am scratching my head big time. The girls put forward several requests. They wanna visit Little India, Arab Street, Sentosa, Orchard, City Hall and East Coast Park! Amazing - the stuff they know. And lol, they wanna eat ice kachang and boboh char char. Hmm, it's going to be a long week for me.

I am just going to hide under the covers for now.

Cool Mess

IMG_0023, originally uploaded by ennuisg.

Now that I am desperately trying to clean up my room for the arrival of my guests, it is comforting to know that mess still exist. Behold, the room of asinine...

Statistics

Hmm, what's that? I have emptied out most of the stuff I learnt in junior college. (Well, apart from lit) Argh, statistics. I have to take a module on that wretched topic. Keeping my fingers cross that it will come back to me easily. The impending thought of school does make me gloomy. Time sure flies when you are having fun. My Mum thinks that I am having too much of it. Oh well... *Twiddle my thumbs*. I better have all the fun now before school begins. I am gonna be incarcerated by books. Yuck...

Swinging Doors

I was perusing through the pages of Reader Digest as I stumbled upon the highly controversial article about courtesy in the world. Hmm, interesting. Singapore ranks 30th out of 35. No surprises. Rude bunch we are. I am no exception. But there is one thing that gets on my nerves, that is to allow a door to slam into the face of the one behind you. I loathe it. I abhor it. I detest it. I hate it. And I get pretty unforgiving of it.

That damn door is gonna break someone's nose if the impact is great enough. This discourtesy has huge ramfications! Damn it, why can't you hold the bloody door for a second. It wouldn't kill. It isn't just an issue of guys holding the door for girls. Yep, it would be great if guys would do that and spare us the girls the agony of holding the heavy glass door. But I guess it should be a two-way process. Guys too have a right to protect their nose.

Party Girl

I have got to confess, that's the description that best fits me of late. As a friend kindly puts it, I have been 'painting the town red'. Hmm, I have been hanging out at Orchard pretty much. A little tiresome, but it's the only place to be. I guess I am scrambling to make the best of my time, school's starting. Groan... I love having time to myself so much! Sigh, not really looking forward to it. Just bury me six feet under, I will have time to myself for eternity.

Well, I am throwing a party tonight! Wish me luck! No rain! No interference from nosy security! Basically I am keeping my fingers cross that everyone will have fun.

Darn!

The die has been cast! The dress does bear a faint resemblance of Marilyn Monroe's. Not an entirely flattering description of it. I would prefer it to be called the 'Garden Party Dress'. It's sweeter that way. It was never my intention to be seen as a sex symbol. What's with names like Paris Hilton, Marilyn Monroe and Snow White of late. Weird. I just like having white dresses that's all. They are classic. A little hard to maintain, but they are pretty. Oh well...

Feeling The Place

It just struck me over an msn conversation with a friend that I have been feeling the place each day as I awake. Connecting and being acutely aware of the surroundings. Sensitive it may seems, but it does bring lots of pain. Happiness and quietness are hardly in the air. It's just this mad rush, this hostile silence, this suffocating presence.

Nights are the best. As the world comes to a halt, the lights dim, the traffic slows, peace slips in. As I sit before the computer each night quietly tapping away, I delve into the deepest depths of my beings. Aware. Raw. The pen has been my comfort of late. Words carry my sorrow.

And as you enter into the depths of night, you are softly send to sleep by the cradle of the night. This quiet cold that comforts. You snuggle under the quilt, this thin layer that keeps you from the pain of the world. Yet it is no panacea for the pain within you. It burns furiously and you are left screaming for mercy.

Pottering About

It feels strange to wake up to the silence of empty house. It used to get on me. The silence would be claustrophobic and I would be scrambling to get out of the house. I just wanted to be out, be it alone or with friends. I simply could not bear this suffocating quiet.

But not today, strangely. I am basking in the gentle warm of the morning sun, blogging leisurely away as the music of Jack Johnson filters into my ears. Heart though troubled, but still at tenuous sense of peace. Content.

For all the misery, bitterness and unhappiness that I have brought upon myself over the months, they seem to melt away on this fine morning.

Going out for a run would do me good. Pounding the streets. Letting it all out.

Crying Shame - Jack Johnson

German Exchange

We were swopping vocabulary on msn, and I decided to make a note on it.

1. No problem - Kein Problem! (Kind problam)
2. Thanks - Danke (Dunk-ke)
3. Thank you very much - Vielen dunk (fee-len dunk)
4. Hello - Hallo
5. I am tired - ich bin müde (ik bin moo-de)
6. Pig - Schwein (Sch -vine)
7. Stupid - Dumm
8. Idiot - Dummkopf (doom-cougf)

Pretty Much Safe

Well, the Emperor gave his approval grudgingly. Well, safe for now. He wants something more executive for the next time. I think I shall heed him this time. I need some executive clothes for presentations.

However, I am getting all hot at the neck with that dress I bought. The more I stare at it, the more unlike a school dress it looks. There are various schools of thought to it. Here are some:

1. The Marilyn Monroe by Mummy - The slight flare of the skirt at the bottom does make it look like one. And the awfully low cut at the front can make it look slutty without a camisole, a piece that I fully intend to wear.

2. The Nun by Sister - She thinks that I look ghastly in that dress.

3. The Party Girl by Mummyy and Me - It does look good enough for a cocktail dress. Careful accessorising will take me to parties.

4. The Garden Party Girl by Me - I think this is the best description of it. Throw on a pair of flats and I will look like a tall girl of 9 jumping about in the gardens with a long flying sash at the back. I love this image.

Moment of Reckoning

Presently, the feedback for the new dress have not been favourable. And I am PANICKING! The dress costs $90, no refunds or exchange! And if it fails to please the emperor tonight, I may be stripped of the remainding $210. There is always that possibility of happening.

So here are some of the comments:

Sister - Why must you look different from people always? You look awful. You look like you are about to enter the nunnery. ( Likewise, I think that she is sartorially challenged)

Brother - Okay. ( And I had to force it out of him!)

Mother - The dress is really thin. It is too plain. ( I have yet to tell her that it costs a whopping $90! She's gonna baulked! Eek!) And do you think you are Marilyn Monroe?

Shit! On a second thought, it does look like that classic white dress. I can't go to school in that! It is meant to be a school dress, not a party dress! Groan... But there is one saving grace, the sash at the back makes it look really sweet and girly. Keeping my fingers cross. I can't look like a slut in school. Groan...

Some smart dress...

Irony!

I have got money to spend for dresses but they seem to be eluding me. Well, I took the plunge and bought one from Zara today. It's the only dress that has caught my fancy so far. Weird ain't it. Perhaps it due to the lack of money that has resulted in my inability to get nice dresses. The really nice stuff run up to hundreds. I was just drooling at one at Tommy Hilfiger. Oh well, way beyond my reach. I am not too please with the material of the new dress, it's a tad thin. But will do. Sigh. I hope my Dad is okay with it. He may not be too please with the material. Got to try my best to hide that fact tonight when I present it to him. Sigh.

If You Noticed...

I have been using nothing but exclamation marks for the previous post. This speaks volumes about my current state of mind! It's seriously on a high!

Exhilaration, Euphoria, Excitement ...

Italy WON!!!! Hurrah!!!! Cheers to Italian Nationalism!!! Cheers to Garibaldi!!! Cheers to Cavour!!! ( I doubt you guys would have an inkling about them. But nevermind!)

But that is beside the point! The 2 Japanese girls I met on the Japan trains are coming! I know, it is a mad plunge for both parties! We got to know each other for a grand total of 20 minutes and I extended the invitation to them! Madness as my Mum calls it! But the deed is done! HA! So here comes loads of fun come 26th July to 2nd August! AN6 people, you are not going to be let off! You are involved! I have gotta find a way to smuggle us out of the house and visit Zouk!

Osaka

I remembered Osaka as one of the dullest place I ever visited in Japan. Apart from the food, Osaka struck me as a bore and a sleazy area. However, it retained some quaintness and was a drastically different place from Tokyo. A stark contrast to the glamour and glitz of the capital city of Japan. I remembered seeing poronography being sold openly on the streets, dark dingy alleys and brusque Japanese.

I thought I was exclusive to this opinion, after all, most people would hold popular destinations like Osaka in esteem. But I came across this interesting paragraph while reading a book by this Japanese writer Junichiro Tanizaki, and this was written in the foreword

"Like all natives of Tokyo, he had always viewed Osaka with a mixture of amusement and contempt. The Osakan was a penny-grabbing bumpkin who had not learned the fine Japanese art of concealing his emotions; and the Osakan seemed insensitive to the exhilarating succession of foreign influences that was sweeping the country. He was cloddishly behind the times."

Ouch, that was harsh. But somehow I found it hilarious and slightly apt. However that statement was made in the the era of the 1920s and things may have improved since. Still, they are no where as sophiscated as Tokyoites. Hmm, interesting.

To My Defence...

Oh well, I am getting lambasted for spending again. Well, I feel guilty too. But the thought of shopping is simply irresistible. Besides, it was my Dad who initiated this shopping spree. I am innocent. *Twiddle my thumbs*.

Well, let's put it this way. He was a little aghast when I came back wearing this top with a low backline. (AN6 buddies, you would have seen it.) And he put his disapproval in an extremely diplomatic and helpful way by offering me money to shop. Thus, making me a very happy girl! But I am feeling indignant, I think it is a perfectly pretty top and my Mum has given her approval. Oh well... Conflict of ideas.

Zipping off to Zara tomorrow to pick out a dress! Wish me luck finding it!.

Busy VS Free

I have an annoying knack of being free when the whole world is busy. And the vice versa happens when I am busy. I simply loathe it! Hmm, big joke on me it seems. So, as my teaching job draws to an end, I am gonna have some time on my hands next week. And apparently, my shopping buddies are busy! Great! My dear Ebabe is away - honestly, I think we make good shopping partners. XQ will be busy! L will be at orientation camp. C, S and AL - are you game for shopping? Andritz?

And if you are wondering where is my shopping money is going to come from, it's coming from my Father! Hooray! Though, it may simply an instance of empty talk. But there's hope! He thought that I should get some 'smart dresses' and kind of offered to pay for it. Oh well, I guess the tops that I bought of late did not go down well with him. However I will be tied by some rules when I am spending his money. Which means, the dresses I will be getting shall strictly be somber and devoid of ribbons. Well, it beats not having any shopping money at all.

Guess what! He made an offer of $500 for 3 dresses! Hooray! But I told him $300 will do! Silly me! But I do feel bad spending so much. Smart dresses - where should I go to hunt for them?

The Things They Do

The kids drive me up the wall, yet some of them can be such angels. I have grown pretty fond of a couple. Surprise! Surprise! But no, I am still leaving that hell hole!

Here's a list of reasons why:

1. I am invisible. They barge in and out of the class like I am an unseen presence.

2. They bring their friends in! And I have no idea if they are members of the class. All faces look foreign to me.

3. Teacher - your perfume stinks!

4. Homework never gets done.

5. When I am speaking to a class of 40, there are only 2 listeners. Thanks a billion.

6. No, I do not want to give you my number. And neither do I want yours.

7. I am not Paris Hilton! Wearing a top-to-toe white does not warrant me that unflattering title.

8. Teacher, I do not want to look at your face. I want to look at the pretty girls in the yearbook.

9. You do not bang your chair to show your displeasure.

10. You do not say thank you at the end of each lesson.

Yup, thanks a billion for making me go...

Ragged Feet

My feet are in terrible shape. They are bruised, sore and cut. Well, I can fault no one. It's self-inflicted. No thanks to the brand new heels I bought despite knowing their damage potential. I simply could not resist them. Silly me.

Ever since my graduation from junior college, my feet have been in various state of distress. And I am not alone. My mates too have suffered much. Gone are our comfy sport shoes. Heels, pumps, Mary Janes and Melissas came running out. And thus the destruction began.

I wonder why we willingly subject ourselves to such torture. Hmm... Ladies can be weird creatures. But honestly, I love my flats best. My trustyworth flats that has taken me through mountains, long walks and shopping trips. They have endured the wettest of days and the steepest of hills. Alas, they now lay on their dying bed, pleading to be retained. And along came the spanking new Converse shoes who then took their place. Oh shoes much missed, how you call to me, call to me!

HOT!

What is with this terrible weather? I seem to have this hot air conditioner breathing down my neck. It is driving me nuts! I have my hair tied up like an obaasan and nothing works. This annoying presence is still there. Oooo, the supernatural!

Anyway, I can't do anything with this awful locks of mine. I can't snip it. I can neither dye it nor curl it. It is a taboo to do anything to my hair due to dance! Sigh, totally awful. This is the longest I ever had, and the mess is just too much for yours truly to handle. As you all know, moi is a scatter brain and a renowned walking disaster. Long hair is just NOT FOR ME!

I look forward to the day when I can snip it off. Off with the hair! Hooray! Anyway, this mope of my mine has been an avenue for me to vent my anger. I snip it when I am down, or when I am angry. And I am very keen to snip off this dastardly hair of mine this very moment.

As you would know, yours truly have this absolutely weird dream to shave her head BALD. Yes, bald! So come one day, please do not be surprise if you receive an invite to "T's Shaving Her Head Bald Party". Your presents and presence please. :P
